REAL BRIDE REBECCA JAMES

#THEREALBRIDESOFBOWIE

REBECCA + JOEL

REBECCA IS PURE SUNSHINE; A BREATH OF FRESH AIR - SO COOL, CHARISMATIC AND CRAZY IN LOVE. SHE WEARS OUR SANDON BODICE IN TULLE LACE + THE BOMBO SKIRT AS A GOWN FOR HER VERY EMOTIONAL AND SENTIMENTAL, BYRON BAY WEDDING.

SHE SAID YES

Like our very first Bowie Bride, we met Rebecca at the Sydney One Fine Day when we had just launched Bowie Rae. She booked in her first session and one week later tried on The One.

As the story usually goes with The Bombo, it's always the last piece to "try on just for fun". Rebecca was after something simple and understated but couldn't leave without putting it on, and just like that, we all fell in love!

She didn't realise at the time that the skirt was named The Bombo; a tribute to one of our favourite South Coast landmarks. This place, if you've never been yourself, is as bold as it is beautiful... Majestic rock formations make up the backdrop to the  pristine emerald ocean, there really is nothing quite like it.

Rebecca had learnt the skirt's name in what became a very emotional moment we would both remember. She revealed that her father's ashes were released at Bombo as well as The Pass, where she would be getting married. It was obvious to both of us that The Bombo was meant to be worn by her and so, it was done.

It didn't end there; Rebecca kept in touch throughout the months on matters of all things- styling from jewellery to her Jimmy Choo beauties! Keeping everything else to a minimum, Rebecca gave all attention to her shoes and the gown opting for very natural Hair and Makeup to stay true to HERself.

the LOVE story

was another stand out for me, a couple who had loved each other through most things; grief, life and the in between. It was an infectious love story to be around, both Rebecca and Joel share eccentric and larger than life personalities and knew they were "The One" from the very beginning. As always, life got in the way and postponed what seemed to be the inevitable.

Years before the actual proposal, Joel used his Grandmother's typewriter to write his proposal letter, sealing it "To be opened when the time is right." Rebecca saw the letter and secretly hoped it would be a proposal. She also wrote and sealed her own response in an envelope, waiting for "when the time is right".

Three years and a whole lotta life later, both Joel and Rebecca had learnt that they in fact were The One for each other and despite talks of never marrying, Joel pulled out the sealed letter Rebecca had seen years earlier and Rebecca did the same with her answer - at a rooftop watching the sunrise (just to add to this hopelessly romantic, tear-jerker of a proposal story!)

If that's not the epitome of a proposal to spend and share the rest of your life with someone else, we're not sure what is!

The details of the day were truly, madly and deeply Rebecca and Joel - even down to the photographer (who is one of Bowie Rae's very own favourite's Matt Godkin); every little detail was planned and selected to perfection.

We try not to be biased, but we truly believe that our Bowie Brides are simply the best; fun, full of life and have love stories that make us want to own writes to the screenplay!

From all of us here at Bowie Rae, we want to wish these two absolute legends one hell of a ride! Congratulations to one of our favs, Rebecca + Joel x
