TOP 5

What can I say, we're a sucker for the 90s! Out of everything the 90s brought us; grunge, denim, mixed tapes, bad hair and even worse fashion, nothing surpasses High Fidelity and it's iconic TOP FIVE lists. Music is as central to the Bowie Rae design process as the fabric itself, and if you think it goes under the Details list on your wedding prep, think again! At Bowie, we think music is second if not EQUAL to the Dress, and maybe vows ;)

So without further ado, here are out TOP FIVES for you and your day, starting with the walk...

THE WALK

The walk over is a pretty big deal. Sure, it may not be an aisle and you may not have a room of spectators standing and staring at you as you do it, but surely you need a song to be playing as you make your way towards one another about to pledge all of your I DO's, and we believe that song is the MOST Important one on your playlist! Here our our TOP FIVE songs to make that moment truly epic; goosebumps, tears and all!

5. EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY/ Your Hand in mine / THE EARTH IS NOT A COLD PLACE

At fifth place, a transcendent piece of music for the build-up drama queens! No lyrics needed, this song is a masterpiece in its own right sure to give an entire room of folks the feels (no matter the size of the room or the amount of people). All we suggest is... make this one a long walk to get the whole song in because that build up is epic!

4. PEARL JAM / Oceans / TEN

If you've followed us for a while, you know we can't go passed these Pearlers! Eddie's haunting voice is perfect amongst the waves in this little doosy. Think barefoot bride, beach setting and a whole lotta chill with this one playing in the background.

3. M.WARD / Poison Cup / POST-WAR

All about the vocals. Yes, it's a little more obscure but we are obsessed with this song; vocals, music and lyrics! It's simple and understated yet does the job 10 fold! If you don't make it your 'walk to' song, we think you'll probably find another playlist for it.

2. BON IVER / Perth / BON IVER

This song is all about the feels! With Justin's haunting vocals paired with the dramatic build of percussion you just can't go past this monumental song! We may even have used this as our very own 'down the aisle' song, so excuse us for being a little biased it's just THAT good!

1. DAVID BOWIE / Heroes / HEROES

And the winner is!! So it may not be a traditional walk down the aisle kind of melody, but from the opening note it's goosebumps central. It's big, bold and all about love in the best kind of way... Plus it's got our main man front and centre! Walking in your Bowie Rae to meet your Bae listening to Bowie... not a bad combo at all x

THE DANCE

We weren't presumptuous in calling it your "first dance" or even "slow dance". There are so many winners we think can make this list, but alas it's called the TOP FIVE for a reason and you can only pick one! We tried to have something in here for everyone while ticking all the other boxes!

5. PAOLO NUTINI / Growing Up Beside You / SUNNY SIDE UP

Feel like something light, sweet and fun to dance together to? This little number is just the one! Something a little bit different, it says all the right things in all the right ways, and is just sweet as pie.

4. FOO FIGHTERS / Everlong (Acoustic) / THE COLOUR AND THE SHAPE

This song is everything. Grohl's voice is an ode to grunge yet the acoustic guitar version pulls it back a notch. Simple lyrics, simple melody yet nothing anyone is likely to forget!

3. INXS / Beautiful Girl / WELCOME TO WHEREVER YOU ARE

An underrated favourite, but we think an INXS number belongs somewhere... While this song always gives us the feels, so does every other one of their records. Change it up to Never Tear Us Apart or something a little less known like The One Thing. However you do INXS on your day will never be a mistake x

2. YEAH YEAH YEAHS / Wedding Song / MOSQUITO

All about the vocals. Yes, it's a little more obscure but we are obsessed with this song; vocals, music and lyrics! It's simple and understated yet does the job 10 fold! If it doesn't make your 'dance' or 'walk' song, we think you'll probably find another playlist for it.

1. BEN HARPER / Forever / WELCOME TO THE CRUEL WORLD

And then there was Benjamin. It's a small, slow and quiet one. Nothing else to it. Low and subtle acoustics to match his low and subtle vocals, but it's got everything you need to pull someone in, look into each other's eyes and drown out the rest of the room. Our top pick for sure!

THE PARTY

Here's what you need to remember, firstly it's all about the crowd... Know who your people are and give them what they want! To get the dance floor sweating up a storm, this is no place for obscurity or personal favs! There is no way this list could be limited to FIVE so here are 10 songs we think every dance playlist should have cranking!

1O. BEYONCE / CRAZY RIGHT NOW

Yep, you won't regret it. Trust us x

9. EURYTHMICS / SWEET DREAMS

It's a favourite no matter the crowd, so get it cranking nice and loud.

7. OUTCAST / HEY YA!

Once again, you'll have to trust us on this one. Play it and watch the crowd make some noise!

6. BONNIE TYLER / I NEED A HERO

Don't laugh, just play it and watch the masses lose their composure. You'll even see the designated drivers lose their cool when they hear this one.

Look, when it comes to The Doors take your pick! Any song can replace this one on the dance floor or in any category. Just do yourselves a favour and pick one for somewhere!

Just because it will never, ever disappoint. There are some songs folks, that just belong on the party play list!
